Abdul Latif Jameel Enterprises (ALJE), part of the Abdul Latif Jameel group (ALJ), has a rich history spanning over 75 years. What began as a small trading business and Toyota distributorship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has now grown into a diversified global enterprise, operating in 30 countries with over 11,000 employees. ALJE’s portfolio includes sectors such as automotive distribution, oil, lubricants, insurance, and crash repair solutions, as well as expansions into logistics, technology, media, and healthcare.
However, with growth came the need for a robust performance management system. ALJE realized that measuring performance solely from a financial perspective was not enough. To gain deeper insights, they sought a more comprehensive approach and embraced the balanced scorecard methodology. They connected with the Balanced Scorecard Institute to develop their strategy but soon encountered challenges in managing the scorecard manually through Microsoft Office.
